Innovative Spine Surgery
Design and development
The primary aim of this research is to develop novel innovative surgical techniques, cage and implant designs, and biomaterials to improve upon current existing interventions and strategies. Our projects focus on autograft, allograft and synthetic biomaterials and understanding and improving these materials in the spine surgery arena.
Some of our current projects and achievements by the NSURG Innovations team are listed below:
- Plasma-sprayed titanium coating to polyetheretherketone for bone-implant interfaces
- The “TFP” fusion technique for posterior 360 degree lumbar fusion
- The hybrid technique for posterior lumbar interbody fusion
- The “medio-latero-superior trajectory technique”(MLST) for pedicle fixation
- Anterior Cervical Decompression and fusion: Analysis of surgical outcome with and without plating
- Monosegmental fixation following thoraco-lumbar fracture
