Dr Prashanth Rao is a neurosurgeon from Westmead Hospital, Sydney. He completed a PhD in spine at UNSW, Sydney. He underwent further specialised training for spine in Adelaide, Australia and London, UK. 

He currently supervises 3 ILP students from UNSW, 2 MD students from University of Sydney and one from University of Notredame. 

His research interests include: 

1. Wearables in Spine Surgery
2. Spinal cord injuries
3. Degenerative spinal disorders
4. Biomechanics in spine
